Our Mission

Being blind is a debilitating handicap. It makes everything in life harder to do. Low or no vision effects 2.2 billion people around the globe. Yet blindness is an underfunded area of research. It does not have a celebrity like Jerry Lewis or a color like the pink ribbon of breast cancer. Vision restoration research has made little progress until now. Cutting edge vision research finally has in its sights the possibility of slowing vision loss and of vision restoration.

This charity is solely focused on vision research. All donations will be given to the research institutions most likely to make concrete progress in this field. Genetic research and bioengineering are two promising directions. Each year the charity’s trustees will seek out the places where progress is being demonstrated and donate money to hire and fund new researchers and move the advances forward more quickly.

I lived with a brother who has retinopathy of prematurity. I know firsthand how little progress has been made in this field. We have dedicated our time and our resources for my whole life to easing the burden and giving hope to as many other families as possible who are living with blindness or low vision. It was my parents’ dream that they would live to see progress in blindness prevention and vision restoration. They unfortunately did not, but they passed the dream on to me.
